Behind the Scenes 1: A Development Journey of The Last Ledger

Welcome to our development blog for The Last Ledger! We are excited to share our progress with you and give you a behind-the-scenes look at our development process.

We started working on a new project focused on network replication. This was necessary due to incompatibilities with the previous release and our desire to move forward with the last ledger. We imported all assets and created all characters, and we started working on network replication. While the first release of the new version may not have multiplayer enabled, it will feature more zombies, more weapons, better storyline, better UI, and better gameplay.

We made significant progress on several different aspects of the game. We programmed characters with walking and general movement, and we added interaction interfaces and master items for the interaction system. We tested the interaction system to ensure it works as intended. We also started work on the weapon system, and we adjusted it to be more realistic using real-life data from the weapons.

We focused on developing different types of Zombie AI, including Shambler, Teleporter, Blaster, and Spitter. These zombies will add variety to the gameplay and make the game more challenging for players.

We imported 1500+ animations to work on the animation blueprint (Anim BP) for the main character. This will allow the character to have more movement capabilities, such as vaulting, diving over obstacles, and more. By importing a large number of animations, we can create more realistic movements for the main character, which will help to create a more immersive gameplay experience for players.

We made progress on the movement mechanics of the game by adding a vault and mantle system to the player character. We also optimized the hand IK system for the vault system and added code to prevent the character from listening to key inputs while in the middle of a vault or mantle. These improvements to the movement and gameplay mechanics of the game will create a more polished and realistic experience for players.

In summary, we have made significant progress in developing a more immersive and engaging game for players. We are excited to continue working on this project and can't wait to share more updates with you in the future. Thank you for reading our development blog!
